Wisdom Tooth Extractions In Moundridge, KS

Extractions can cause anxiety for both children and parents, but they are a routine procedure in most dental offices. In some cases, a child's tooth may be too decayed to save, or it may need to be removed to make way for orthodontic treatment.

Regardless of the reason, Dr. Davidson and her team will ensure that both you and your child feel comfortable with the treatment plan. With the use of local anesthetic, Dr. Davidson will remove your child's tooth. If the tooth is impacted or if the removal is complex, Dr. Davidson will discuss sedation options with you.

After the tooth extraction, Dr. Davidson will provide you with post-operative instructions. They will also place a small piece of gauze over the extraction site to stop bleeding and promote clot formation. Remember to check and replace the gauze every 20 minutes until the bleeding stops. For the first 24 hours following your child's extraction, here are some recommended tips:
  • Utilize over-the-counter or prescribed pain relievers as recommended by Dr. Davidson.
  • Provide your child with soft foods during the initial 24 hours post-extraction.
  • STRICTLY avoid activities such as using a straw, rinsing their mouth, spitting, or brushing the area for at least 24 hours to prevent the risk of dry socket.
  • Apply an ice pack wrapped in a towel to the extraction site for around 20 minutes to alleviate swelling and discomfort.
  • Contact our office immediately if your child experiences fever, severe pain, or chills.
Newton Dental Studio prioritizes your child's comfort during any type of treatment they receive. Dr. Davidson will personally discuss their individual situation with you to find the most effective approach for their treatment.
